The Stone Circle CouncilWhat is Lughnasad?In Celtic mythology the god Lugh established the festival as a feast, with games commemorating his foster-mother Tailtiu. We will be celebrating in much the same fashion as a tribute to Lugh and a celebration of the harvest. Wait, Games? Yup! All kinds of games! Board games, trivia games, lawn games, water games, competitive basket weaving! When you arrive you'll join a team! You and your team will participating in games and workshops and even classes all weekend and rack-up points to try and win the Lugh-Cup! (or banner or... rock, maybe... we haven't sorted it out yet). About the Venue: Hershey Park Camping Resort is an official resort of Hershey Park theme park in Hershey, PA. We have reserved a group camping area for us that is beautiful and grassy with a few trees and a shaded pavillion. The resort features an indoor game room, volleyball and basketball cos, a country store, family fun center, laundry facility and restroom and shower facilities! Fire and Cooking: Individual fires are permitted, but you will need to bring your own fire-ring, you are also welcome to bring grills and camp-stoves for cooking. There is no on-site kitchen so there will not be any meal-plan available. However, we are planning on a pancake (and non-gluten pancake) breakfast on Saturday morning! Fire wood will be available for purchase on-site (at the camp store). DO NOT bring your own wood. Electricity: There is no electric hook-up at the group site. In previous years folks were able to charge phones in the bathrooms. Swimming: THERE IS A POOL!!! Coffee: In an effort to reduce trash please bring a reusable coffee mug. |
