Warning and Banning Policy
The Stone Circle Council Officers consider caretaking the safety of our community incredibly seriously. Under certain circumstances, the Officers may undertake procedures to provide warnings or ban individuals from community events or spaces if their attendance presents a risk to the safety of community members. To ensure this process remains as consistent, fair, confidential, and prioritizes the safety and well-being of all individuals, we share our practices and policies regarding issuing warnings and bans below.
Goals for this policy
- Provide transparency to community, and rely on when it is necessary for conflict
- Ensure our process is consistent across different incidents, when they involve different members, and that can be enforced by Officers now and in the future
- Uphold our members safety: physically, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically
Actions that may initiate a warning or ban:
- A pattern of violating the SCC Code of Conduct or SCC policies, endangering any event or its participants’ safety
- A single well-substantiated report of a serious violation of SCC Code of Conduct or SCC policies
- Continuing to engage in harmful behavior after receiving a Warning from the SCC Officers about behavior
Where inciting events can occur:
- Within SCC spaces/events or outside of SCC spaces, if it is decided by Officers that the behavior is relevant to our community
- Towards another SCC participant, or a non-SCC participant
Content of bans
Depending on the nature of the situation, bans may include:
- Restrictions on avoiding interactions with specific individuals, or specific groups, in community spaces
- Restriction on attending a specific community event
- Restriction on attending all events
- Restriction on presence in any community space
Informing banned individuals of their status
