SCC Newsletter: October 2020

Upcoming Events

Samhain 2020

when: October 21 - November 1

where: Wherever you are! This is a virtual event.

Happy New Years! Come spend the “Between Time” with your Spirit Family. There will be a toast to the departed, crafting, and a masquerade ball. Main ritual will be a Universal Temple of Spirits Ceremony, honoring the spirits with poetry and song. Check the website for the full schedule.

IMPORTANT: If you would like to call a spirit for the UToS ceremony, please provide the name of the spirit, a song/poem for the spirit, and whether you will sing or you need someone else to sing. Email/message John or Patty.

We’re working on a playlist of spoopy tunes for the Masquerade party. If there is a Halloween/Samhain related song that you are dying to hear played during our Masquerade, send John a message and we’ll put it on the list - no promises that the DJ will have it, but we will ask.

what to bring:

  • fistful of soil, for ritual
  • beverage, for the toast
  • Away Team box

If you register after the 21st, your confirmation email will include a description of the Away Team box’s contents. Alternatively, if you register early and are not getting an Away Team box (which you should! We have Sunshine funds!), send us an email and we’ll let you know what’s in the box. We’re trying not to spoil the surprise. ;)

Fundraiser: Stone Circle Calendars

Kate got sick of writing "Beltane" on her calendar, so she made a calendar that comes with the holidays pre-printed! And then we found 16 beautiful, curated images from photographers within our community, subtly representing the wheel of the year.

The 16-month calendars cover September 2020 through December 2021. Order now to get one in time for Samhain! $20 USD.

Officer Activity

Wrangling the IRS

SCC is pursuing nonprofit status by filing with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) corporation. Our beloved Patty Althouse has filed the paperwork, and we eagerly await the IRS’s judgment. With luck, we’ll be tax-exempt soon!
