Stone Circle Council Beltane at StoneSong Center

April 29 - May 1, 2022

First Fire at Beltane is traditionally a time to bless the community by lighting the first bonfire of the season on Friday night and picking up the energy of the Fire, carrying it along with us into the fertile growing season. Join us this year as we travel with Prometheus in a quest to obtain the Fire of the Gods!

Weekend plans include our Annual Spring Meeting with Officer Elections by the Membership, building the wreath & ribbons for the dancing of the Maypole, an Eclipse Mystery play, main Ceremony, and Feasting

On Sunday we will witness the Children of SCC in the Seed Stone pull & raising, after which we gather again for the Closing Ceremony and farewells until next time

About our Venue: StoneSong Center is a welcoming space nestled in the Allegany Mountains of Western Maryland where we are inspired to open and deepen our connection to the land & to one another. It includes a farmhouse overlooking 23 acres of beautiful land, a barn with hot showers and flush toilets, a Maypole, Seed Stones, and a Trilith with accompanying standing stones raised by the Stone Circle Council in 2019 & 2021

Health & Safety message for Beltane 2022 at Stonesong Center from the Health Advisory Committee (HAC) & the SCC Officers:

In 2021 SCC took a multi-layered approach to infection prevention during in-person events. We gathered four times without a resulting COVID infection reported. In 2022 we will balance the fatigue of taking precautions with the need to respect one another, as well as with the requirements of the event venue.

COVID precautions in effect for Beltane 2022 are as follows:

1. Vaccines: our venue, StoneSong Center, requires all persons on-site over the age of 5 years to be fully vaccinated per the CDC definition: "a person is fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving all recommended doses in the primary series of their COVID-19 vaccination". Boosters are highly recommended for your protection from severe illness - give those antibodies a turbo charge!

Vaccination status is non-negotiable, evidence of vaccine mandatory, & site waiver required.

2. Masks: when standing in ceremony together we will be masked so that all in attendance can feel safe in a shared space. When out & about in public spaces, we will make personal choices about what feels comfortable in terms of masks & be respected for our choice.

3. Distance: outside of ceremony, when we gather as a Tribe we will do so under the sky, or under the Tent, but not indoors. How close we wish to be in the camping and sleeping areas will be a personal choice. Normalize asking if it's OK to hug, stand or sit close - and also saying that it is not, if that is the case.

4. If you have symptoms of illness (any) please stay home. The cost of your registration & meal plan will be refunded to you & we will even sing to you over Zoom as a bonus!

5. The mission of the HAC is to prevent the spread of communicable illness at SCC gatherings - any illness. Influenza & strep infections are currently on the rise now that public masking is declining. Free antigen (rapid) COVID tests delivered to your home can be ordered here: https://www.covid.gov/tests

Looking forward to sharing a joyous celebration of Beltane together!

Red Dragon 2022: The Work Continues

Despite a pandemic, and the threat to the life and health of everyone, Stone Circle Wicca and friends gathered on Friday and Saturday February 18th and 19th via zoom for Red Dragon 2022.

The Spell That Keeps on Growing

There’s an annual event that involves dressing up in red clothing and feasting on red foods and drink, toasting and singing, drumming and dancing, an encounter with a Red Dragon, and bidding on items that delight and inspire. It’s more than a party, more than a fundraiser, more than a ritual. It’s a community spell-working that began more than two decades ago and that has continued with events in places all around the world, each event adding power and energy to the intention: hope, healing and cures for blood-borne diseases.

The auction, once again was presented online with 18 items emceed by the amazing Snowball. Red Dragon 2022 raised funds for Baltimore Safe Haven, a nonprofit organization that provides support for the health and well-being of the trans community.

If you missed it this year, make a plan to be with us in February 2023!
